    Our Mission

    SNI promotes quality improvement and systems innovation in California’s public hospital systems. Our work advances community health in California, particularly for low-income and uninsured individuals within the state’s racially and ethnically diverse population. SNI works to recognize, equip, and reproduce the wide array of innovations taking place in California’s public hospital systems. SNI promotes a broader understanding of the role that public hospitals and health systems play in providing for and preserving community health, and serves as a catalyst for public hospital system improvement across its three major priority areas:

    Goals:

    • To provide California ’s public hospitals and health systems with the means to access and implement the most current knowledge of best practices for maximizing capacity to promote community health;
    • To build innovation in the advancement of community health by demonstrating and evaluating new strategies that promote the health of low-income, culturally diverse communities;
    • To foster a broader understanding and appreciation for the critical role played by public hospitals and health systems—and the challenges they face—among policy makers, health care leaders, researchers and other key stakeholders in the community health arena.
